Vancouver Evergreen Line

Well, not exactly. Trains on the blue line only originate at Production Way, which, as you say, would be the preferred station to make the transfer.

Yeah, you're right - I was thinking the other way around - transfers to Coquitlam (where trains run the full length of the line), rather than to New Westminster (which start at Production Way).

Video link from SSP - you can see that there's only one more span to be installed on North Road, then the gantry crane moved to Coquitlam to install elevated guideway up there.

With university students back in school, the front of the train is always packed so I can't get a good seat for video :(

I did capture a (somewhat shaky) video out the side window this morning, which I'll call Bridging the Gap

Final span on the North Road segment is now in place.
So the guideway structure is complete between the tunnel and Lougheed station.
Tracks and systems still to be installed, etc.

The launching girder/gantry crane will now be moved to Coquitlam to build the segment between Coquitlam Central Station and Douglas / LaFarge Station.

The final connection!

Video and article about how Pinetree Way should look when the line is open. There seem to be a few switches missing but I don't think that the guideway is the video's primary focus. :)

Small sink hole has developed above the TBM in an area with "variable soils":

Some coverage from Global news:

Sinkhole forms above Evergreen Line tunnel boring site in Port Moody

sinkhole2.jpg

Some Port Moody residents got a big surprise this afternoon when a sinkhole developed in their parking lot.

While the sinkhole, which developed directly above the Evergreen Line tunnel boring in Port Moody, didn’t look big, it was deep — about 79 cubic metres in total.

According to Evergreen Line construction manager Nasir Kurji, the ground caved in at about 3 p.m. when the boring machine was undergoing routine maintenance underground and some sand caved in. The sand caving in caused an air pocket, which then migrated to the surface causing the sinkhole.

The parking lot was cordoned off for a few hours while crews filled the sinkhole.
