In the month since our last update on Boffo Developments' The Smithe, the mixed-use project has rapidly risen an additional six floors, and has given passersby their first glimpse of window wall glazing. Climbing 27 storeys due north at the intersection of Smithe and Cambie Streets, vertical construction has now surpassed its halfway point.

Photos uploaded to our Forum have captured the building from multiple angles as it continues its ascent. The arrival of charcoal-coloured glazing and spandrel panels have added another dimension of interest to the beveled floor plate of the GBL Architects-designed development.

At full buildout, The Smithe will contain 94 two- to three-bedroom residences starting from 1,000 square feet. A podium comprised of 30,000 square feet of office and retail space forms the base of the tower, separated from each other by a multi-storey cavity facing Smithe Street that will shelter a rooftop amenity area.

Additional amenities in the complex will include a fitness centre, media room, barbecue area, children's play space, and raised planters for amateur horticulturists.

The 15,000-square-foot site was previously occupied by a two-level warehouse building that was demolished in the summer of 2017.
