The arrival of two large tower cranes to the Concord Brentwood site have signaled the imminent rise of Phase Two of the 11-tower mega-project. Following more than a year of excavation, the site appears ready to handle the addition of two new high-rises, which will bring the current total up from two to four.
To be known as Hillside East (counterparts to the 2016 addition of Hillside West), the next two towers will be 55 and 45 storeys apiece. Forming a four-tower chain along the Lougheed Parkway, Hillside East will hug the natural curve of the roadway, thereby completing something of an urban vista.
Designed by Francl Architecture, Hillside East will more or less mirror the wavy, pseudo-sculptural aesthetic of its predecessors - albeit with a subtly more curvaceous vibe. Similar as well to Hillside West, the current towers will stand on tall stilts, or columns, which will raise the base of the towers above the local treeline.
Adding some significant visual interest to the development, the raised effect, in concert with the wavy lines, will make for a pair of distinctly formed towers. Set for completion by 2022, Phase Two will be a fine addition to the the up-and-coming Concord Brentwood development.
SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
