Crews are now excavating the second of two future passenger connections between the Millennium Line extension and the existing Canada Line Station at Broadway-City Hall. This tunnel will pass under the Canada Line station and track and connect to the southbound platform via escalators, stairs and an elevator under Cambie Street. In total, 12 new escalators and five new elevators will be installed throughout the station.
Crews are also making progress on the tunnelled connection to the northbound platform, which passes directly under the Canada Line station entrance. This winter, excavation to complete this connection will begin under the sidewalk on the Cambie Street side of the Broadway-City Hall Station entrance building. Pedestrian access on Cambie Street will be maintained throughout the work, while the bus stop for routes 16 and 17 will be temporarily relocated south of W. 10th Avenue to create space. Transit users may recall the same temporary relocation was in place last year.
