Just over a year since we brought you news about a mid-rise rental project coming to Vancouver's Kitsilano neighbourhood, the building has now largely taken shape. Featuring frontage on 12th Avenue and the Arbutus Greenway, the six-storey Kits Walk by Strand Development is readying for occupancy later this year.

The 48-unit project contains three studio, 20 one-, 15 two- and 10 three-bedroom market rental homes. The development also includes a 32-space underground parking garage.

Only the massing of the building has thus far taken shape, with the design by Yamamoto Architecture set to reveal itself in the coming weeks. The latest photo update from the site shows glazing installation has begun, with white brick cladding to provide the opaque elements of the facade.

Submitted for rezoning in 2016, the application for the project was processed under the Rental 100: Secured Market Rental Housing Policy, which guarantees rental units for 60 years or the life of the building, whichever is greater. The goal of the policy is to create 5,000 new market rental housing units by 2021.
