Back in July, vertical construction on the 35-storey 8X On The Park had just begun making visible progress above grade. Through the remainder of the summer and the fall, crews on the GBL Architects-designed residential tower have made considerable gains, as evidenced by new photos capturing the property.

Brenhill Developments is bringing 191 condominiums to the corner of Richards and Helmcken Streets in Yaletown. Occupying a square site bordering Emery Barnes Park, the building rises from the rubble of the old Jubilee House, which has since moved across the street into a new building completed in 2016.

8X On The Park adopts multiple architectural languages that pay deference to their respective immediate surroundings. The eight-storey base will be wrapped in a facade comprised of glazing, stone, and aluminum fins. The park-oriented elevation is split in the middle by a recessed spine. The northernmost element features eight-storey bands of balconies, inspired by the mid-rises of the neighbourhood's built form. The southernmost component is characterized by a latticed envelope arranged in a distinctive diamond pattern to provide uniform sun shading.

When complete, the development will host a number of amenities designed to enhance the living experience. The penthouse-level SkyLounge is the showpiece of the amenities package, offering residents and their guests a social space with an entertainment centre, theatre and spacious rooftop patio.

Vertical construction of the building has not yet produced any cladding. But recent photos show the naked concrete structure beginning to welcome the brackets that will hold the cladding in place, indicating that the first glimpse of materials could be coming in the next few weeks.
