Eight months since our last update, and progress at 1661 Davie Street has made significant gains. The two-tower, 21- and 23-storey mixed-use residential project by Westbank and Crombie REIT has topped off, and cladding has gotten underway.

The two-tower project is connected along its Davie Street frontage via a long, three-storey retail podium, which will house a brand new Safeway (replacing an old one). As for the towers, there will be a mix of sizes and configurations (37 studio, 178 1-bedroom, 86 2-bedroom, and 18 3-bedroom) for a total of 319 units.

Located in Vancouver's West End, near Stanley Park, English Bay Beach, and Davie Village, the project will no doubt be a popular one among those looking to live in the heart of the city. The addition of a sizeable retail component - the aforementioned restoration of the Safeway to the neighbourhood - will bring a great deal of vibrancy to the district.

1661 Davie Street will be LEED Gold certified, complete with a hydronic heating system, solar lighting, and triple-glazed windows. In terms of amenities, the multi-volume development will sport several rooftop terraces, a children's play area, fitness centre, library, and kitchenette.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
