More than three months since our last update, and the Bjarke Ingels-designed Vancouver House has been twisting and turning its way towards completion. The topped off and (mostly) clad 49-storey tower is now being caught up to be its complex podium base, the latter now deep in the in the process of cladding and glazing.

Set to be split between office space and ground floor retail, the multi-storey, multi-part, podium has been spread across both sides of the elevated freeway that bisects the tower's base. To this end, the podium's angular proportions have enabled it to fit into the tiny, irregular, parcels of land that exist underneath the roadway.

In total, 80,000 sq. ft. of office space will be perched above 60,000 sq. ft. of retail space at grade, these mixed-use elements of the project to represent a major boon to both tower residents and the surrounding area. Altogether, the 388-unit Vancouver House will be host to well over 500 residents, in addition to the dozens of employees and retail workers who will make the site their daily home.

Close to Yaletown, Davie Village, False Creek, and the downtown core, Westbank's Vancouver House will be a fine addition to the neighbourhood upon completion.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
