Four months since we last reported on the removal of its crane, and progress at Vancouver House has continued to move along at a significant pace. Moreover, progress at the base of the tower, along the massive, wedge-shaped, multi-storey podium, has moved ahead substantially as crews have now shifted their efforts from the tower to the base.

Set to become home to a mix of retail and office space, the large, multi-purpose podium base has been steadily filling out over the last few months. 80,000 square feet of office space will be perched above 60,000 square feet of retail, the latter to be patronized in part by the more than 500 residents who will one day call Vancouver House home.

Located at 1400 Howe Street, at the foot of the Granville ramps, the uniquely shaped Vancouver House has been cleverly tucked onto its angular lot, the development itself close to a number of prime downtown neighbourhoods. This being said, the inclusion of ample office and retail space will be a boon to the immediate area, the local streetscape - near the bridge and False Creek - in need of some additional urban vibrancy.

Exceptional from any angle, Vancouver House will more than likely to capture the imaginations of Vancouverites and visitors to the city alike both during and post-construction.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
