Three months since our last update, and progress at the multi-tower Burrard Place development in downtown Vancouver has been rising fast. At 56 and 36 storeys, the 810-unit Burrard Place by Reliance Properties and the Jim Pattison Group will soon become one of the densest mixed-use high-rises in the city.

Designed by IBI Group and Revery Architecture, the conjoined "twin" towers will come to rest upon a massive, multi-storey podium. Bowed upwards over the sidewalk down below, the bulk of the podium base will be cantilevered outwards into the surrounding streetscape.

Close to the densely-packed commercial corridors of Davie Village, Yaletown, and Granville Street, it only makes sense to taper the heft of the structure away from the sidewalk. Speaking of pedestrian vibrancy, the street-level retail space at the base of the project will help breathe new life into the immediate vicinity.

Additionally, a planned, 13-storey office tower set to rise on-site will only further serve to amplify the positive impact the development will have upon the corner of Burrard and Drake. Once complete, Burrard Place will be home to upwards of 1,500 residents and employees, the site to be vibrant and full of life.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
