Two months since our last update, and progress at the massive podium base for Sun Towers at Metrotown has been moving along significantly. The multi-storey, mixed-use, podium base for the two-tower project has now risen at least four levels above grade, setting the stage for the imminent rise of the attached 41- and 26-storey towers.

Designed by IBI Group for Belford Properties, 479-unit Sun Towers will soon deliver upwards of 600 new residents to central Burnaby. The centre of what is locally known as the "Golden Row" of condo developments adjacent to the Metrotown SkyTrain station, Sun Towers will form an anchor community within the densest part of the rapidly intensifying suburb.

Set to become the Centre at Sun Towers, the 125,000 sq. ft. podium base will be split between 70,000 sq. ft. of office space held above 30,000 sq. ft. of retail at grade. Additionally, the planned 24,000 amenity deck will include a full range of functions including a fitness centre, badminton court, golf simulator, 60-ft. pool, and a lounge/dining room.

Once complete, Sun Towers at Metrotown will be one of the largest single projects in the vicinity, its large podium base and commercial/retail component to be a major draw for residents and local workers alike.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
