Ten weeks since we last checked in at 1335 Howe Street, and the build site has transformed from an excavation pit to a fully-fledged construction site. A hive of activity over the last two months, with rebar installation and cement pours ongoing, the lower levels of the 40-storey high-rise by Onni Group and IBI Group have now begun to rise.

Located in-between Yaletown and Davie Village, and close as well to the downtown delights of Granville Street, 1335 Howe Street will be a prime address for its nearly 200 residents. Comprised of 120 units, including a mix of condos and rental apartments, the mixed-use development will serve a wide range of housing needs. Furthermore, the condo suites will come in a range of sizes and configurations, and will be fully customizable.

While the condo suites will be placed in the tower, the rental apartments will be relegated to the 6-storey podium base. The decision to segregate owners and renters, depending on its execution, could potentially lead to controversy regarding the ongoing debate over "Poor Doors." Nonetheless, though it is unclear who will have access, the planned amenity spaces will include a fitness centre, meeting rooms, lounges, and an outdoor pool deck and terrace.

Down at street level, a large, sinlge-storey retail component will be included at grade, facing onto Howe Street. Once complete, 1335 Howe Street will more than likely be a fine addition to the local streetscape.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
