On Saturday, March 16, Wesgroup hosted a launch party for their newest project, MODE, in Vancouver’s River District. Designed by Perkins + Will, the new development will consist of a 25-storey building with a 6-storey podium and townhouses. The building will contain a mix of one-, two-, and three-bedroom units; 231 strata and 14 live-work units. There will be 272 car and 298 bike parking spaces over 4 levels of underground parking, as well as car share stalls and a bike repair room.

MODE will feature over 9,000 square feet of amenity space, including a shared outdoor cooking and dining space, outdoor terrace, a large fitness facility, a private movie screening room, two furnished guest suites, and a dog washing station. WorkHub will provide private meeting spaces, including two boardrooms, work booths, and meeting tables.

Landscaping by eta Landscape Architecture will include a large shared courtyard with water features, and a children’s play area. Street-level units will have private landscaped patios, while townhouses and some of the podium units will have access to private rooftop terraces. At street level, landscaping will include street trees, bioswales, and a water feature.

At the launch event, attendees were able to view a scale model of the building, and were invited to walk through a one-bedroom unit showcasing a kitchen with a gas cooktop, modern square-edged cabinets, and quartz countertops with matching backsplash.

The bathroom includes in-floor heating, a frameless glass shower, and water-saving appliances. The units offer two colour palette choices.

The launch event featured live entertainment, games, complimentary Aperol spritz, hot chocolate, and a food station offering poutine and smores.

While not every unit will be guaranteed to come with a full complement of fancy refreshments and tasteful decor, the fit and finish on show at the launch event appears to be very promising.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
