Today's Throwback Thursday takes a look back at the rapid rise of River District Town Centre Plaza. A freshly-cleared site less than 4 years ago, today it is home to three completed projects, with the fourth ascending at an impressive rate. Developed by Wesgroup, Town Centre Plaza has already become an essential part of the River District.

On the north-east corner is Town Centre 1 at 8538 River District Crossing is a mixed-use building consisting of a 19-storey tower with 2019 units, a mid-rise residential building, townhomes, a fitness centre, and street-level retail.

On the south-east corner of the plaza is Town Centre 2, located at 8580 River District Crossing. This 5-storey mixed-use building was completed in 2017 contains retail and offices on the ground floor, and 65 housing unit consisting of strata apartments and townhouses.

On the south-west corner is Town Centre 3, located at 3488 Sawmill Crescent. This 5-storey mixed-use building consists of retail and offices on the ground floor, and 61 housing unit comprising of strata apartments and townhouses.

Finally, on the north-west corner of the plaza is Quartet at 8533 River District Crossing, currently under construction. The development consists of two towers over a retail podium. There will be 258 residential units, and residential amenities including an indoor kitchenette, barbecue space, rooftop urban agriculture plots on the second floor, a deck area, and a children’s play area.
