Eighteen months since our last update, and progress at the site of Sun Towers at Metrotown has made some serious headway, with the first crop of rebar now visible above grade. Self-described as the centrepiece of the so-called "Golden Row" of condo projects clustered around the Metrotown SkyTrain station, the 41- and 26-storey Sun Towers development by Belford Properties are on target to become a significant neighbourhood fixture.

Together, Sun Towers will consist of 479 units of varying size and configuration, spread across each of the towers, with 285 and 194 units respectively. The development will be rich in amenities, including a 24,000 sq. ft. amenity space with a 60-ft pool and hot tub, fitness centre, badminton court, golf simulator, entertainment room, lounge, and communal dining area.

Sun Towers at Metrotown will be anchored by a multi-storey commercial/retail podium - The Centre at Sun Towers - which will be comprised of 70,000 sq. ft. of office space sat atop 30,000 sq. ft. of retail at grade. Having replaced a low-rise apartment block, Sun Towers is representative of the dramatic shift in land use that has followed the recent redevelopment of the SkyTrain corridor.

Once complete, Sun Towers at Metrotown will likely be a popular address for wealthy suburbanites in the market for a top-quality living experience outside of the downtown core. Close to transit, shops, and restaurants, Sun Towers at Metrotown has a lot to offer at a fraction of the cost of city living.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
