Following the demolition of the old Edward Chapman store last summer, in preparation of 833 West Pender Street, a set of updated renderings for the project have shed new light on what to expect in the years to come. Designed by Studio One Architecture for the Executive Group of Companies, the 13-storey, 106-room hotel tower will one day soon be a fine addition to the core, its stone and glass facade to fit nicely into the streetscape of downtown Vancouver.

The selection of heavy white stone as a framework for the otherwise glass curtain wall serves to add some much-needed texture and aesthetic interest to the overall look of the tower. Moving down to street level, and it appears that the inclusion of a small but effective overhang will help frame and protect the main entranceway.

Up top, the roof of the 42-metre tower will be graced with an outdoor terrace, complete with a semi-protected lounge and partial canopy of trees. A nice bonus for hotel guests, the rooftop patio will undoubtedly be a prime destination during warmer weather.

Centrally located near Gastown and the CF Pacific Centre, and close to transit and numerous other amenities, 833 West Pender Street will likely have little trouble attracting future guests.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
