More than two months since we last checked in at the site of Macron Developments' Mirabel, and progress at the West End residential development has been moving along nicely. A large excavation site has now been opened up at 1345 Davie Street, with excavators digging deep ahead of construction.

Owing to Mirabel's two-tower configuration, the excavation is larger than normal, the 18- and 19-storey high-rises to be joined at ground level by a common, three-storey podium. A total of 221 housing units will be spread across the two towers, with 153 market units and 68 affordable units.

The two-tower Mirabel will sit above a four-level underground parking garage with space for 257 cars and 283 bikes. Located deep in Vancouver's popular West End, residents will be within easy walking distance to the shops and restaurants of Denman and Davie Streets, as well as English Bay and adjacent Davie Village.

While the market rate residents will have access to a full range of amenities, including storage lockers, a fitness centre, urban garden plots, and an outdoor terrace, the affordable housing residents will only have access to the common indoor and outdoor spaces, including the children's playground. Nevertheless, the development will be a fine addition to the area.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
