The tallest buildings outside of Vancouver and Burnaby will rise in New Westminster by 2022, according to skyscraping plans put forth by Bosa Development. Dubbed Pier West, two residential towers of 53 and 43 storeys will contain a total of 665 units between them, ranging from one-, two-, and three-bedroom suites to expansive townhomes.

The sculptural glass towers by Hossein Amanat feature subtle changes to fin extensions and balconies that mimic the water of its riverfront siting. The lobby is punctured by V-shaped columns that join the residential floors, creating a dynamic architectural focal point at the entry that is visible from outside the glass walls.

The units are imbued with Bosch appliances and open layouts bounded by oversized windows. Residents of each tower will have exclusive access to their own surfeit of amenities, including a dining room and kitchen, an owners' lounge, barbecue area, outdoor area, and fitness centre. A common recreation space between the towers includes a dog run and community garden plots.

An adjunct three-storey building will house a 40-space childcare facility, restaurant and retail space. To integrate the development with the rest of the neighbourhood, the site plan calls for a nine-metre-wide boardwalk, a two-acre expansion of Westminster Pier Park, and a pedestrian overpass atop the rail tracks at 6th Street.
