Set to open later this year, The Park Metrotown is but the latest in a series of highrise developments that have been a key part of Burnaby's urban transformation for over a decade. The 42-storey, 300-unit condo tower and townhouse project was designed by Chris Dikeakos Architects for Intergulf Development Group. Now that the tower is topped off and almost completely clad, work crews will soon move indoors to apply the finishing touches before residents move in this fall.
Arranged as a tower set above a small set of attached townhouses, the development will cater to a wide array of clientele. The broad assortment of unit types will fit well into Burnaby's suburban setting, as the rapidly rising Vancouver suburb is still very much a place in transition as more and more projects like The Park Metrotown continue to fill in the sites of former low-rise residential and commercial properties.
Located — as the name suggests — near both the adjacent Metropolis at Metrotown shopping centre and attached Metrotown SkyTrain stop, the project will place residents right in the heart of Burnaby's bustling Metrotown district.
Once complete, The Park Metrotown will be a welcome addition to central Burnaby. The Metrotown district is quickly becoming a forest of highrises as the formerly traditional Vancouver suburb continues to embark on its ongoing urban transformation.
SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
