Why did people oppose it? The render looks fine, its neither tall nor big.
Good question. I've met a few people who consisted the core of the 'no tower' campaign, and they predominately old, and home-owners in the area. I would say a typical NIMBY.

Application to rezone the subject site from R1-1 (Residential Inclusive) District to CD-1 (Comprehensive Development) District. The proposal is to allow for the development of a 15-storey mixed-use building and includes:
  • 93 social housing units;
  • Commercial space on the ground floor;
  • A floor space ratio (FSR) of 8.19;
  • A building height of 52.2 m (171 ft.); and
  • 27 vehicle parking spaces and 198 bicycle spaces.
