When we last looked at Second + Main, a new 12-storey residential building rising in Mount Pleasant, construction crews had just reached grade. In the months that have elapsed, the mid-rise project by Create Properties and Northchild Developments has grown above its eponymous intersection.
Covering an entire city block with a design by Franl Architecture and dys architecture, the glass and concrete structure now rising will feature numerous setbacks and green roofs, introducing a unique silhouette to the Southeast False Creek skyline.
The project will deliver 233 market condominium units and 30 non-market rental units for artists upon completion, which is expected in 2021. Interiors are equipped with wide plank hardwood floors, custom European kitchen cabinetry, stone countertops, premium appliances and bathroom fixtures.
In addition to the project's signature rooftop garden, residents will also have access to a fireside lounge, fitness studio, entertainment space, children's play area, and kitchens with barbecues. The wider public haven't been left out either—Second + Main will host ground-level retail space and a public plaza.
SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
