Residents will have an opportunity to provide their feedback about a mixed-use mid-rise development proposed at 8257 Oak Street next month. GBL Architects submitted an application to rezone the property from C-1 (Commercial) District to CD-1 (Comprehensive Development) District in the fall, eyeing a major change to the intersection of Oak Street and West 67th Avenue in Marpole.

The eight-storey development would contain 6,000 square feet of commercial retail space on the ground floor and approximately 8,700 square feet of office space on the second level. A total of 62 strata-titled residential units spanning floors three to nine comprise the bulk of the mid-rise building, which would rest at a height of 31.7 metres above the street. A total of 69 parking spaces and 124 bicycle spaces are also proposed.

The residential unit mix would consist of four studio units, 36 one-bedroom units, 16 two-bedroom units, and three six-bedroom units. Each home will come with a patio, and the three penthouses proposed will enjoy private rooftop patio access from within their units.

The planned community open house is scheduled for February 11 from 5:00 to 7:30 PM at the Marpole Neighbourhood House (8585 Hudson Street). City staff and the applicant team will be in attendance to answer questions from the public.
