Two months since our last update, and progress at The Stack has begun to accelerate. Following the recent arrival of two construction cranes to the site, it appears that the 36-storey tower has begun its ascent.

Concrete foundations and rebar-enforced pilings and supports have now been planted, the core of the structure beginning to rise. With a full crew on deck, and heavy machinery busy on-site, it will not be long before the bulk of the structure reaches up to ground level.

Located at the corner of Melville and Thurlow in the core, The Stack by Oxford Properties will one day house 540,000 sq. ft. of prime downtown office space. Anchor tenants EY and Blakes and DLA Piper will comprise 207,000 sq. ft. of this space, the rest to go to a collection of as of yet unknown agents.

Designed by James KM Cheng Architects, aptly-named project will be composed of a series of "stacked" glass boxes, each of which will be somewhat off-kilter from the one preceding it. Allowing for multiple rooftop terraces (complete with vegetation), the LEED Platinum development will be just one of two participants in the Net Zero Carbon pilot. A fine addition to the core, The Stack will set a high standard for efficiency and design upon completion.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
