The Heather Place redevelopment is progressing well, with Building A of the multi-part project nearing completion. Designed by NSDA Architects on behalf of the Metro Vancouver Housing Corp., the project will replace ageing townhouses and create 230 new rental units. Heather Place will remain a mixed-income community, with 35 of the units being Rent-Geared-to-Income, an increase from 26 units in the existing Heather Place.

The first stage of the project, Building A, is a 5-storey mixed-use structure. It will contain 67 apartments, with a mix of 10 studio, 21 one-bedroom, 23 two-bedroom, and 13 three-bedroom units. Amenities will include an indoor multi-purpose play court, community kitchen, lounge and meeting space, a large shared outdoor patio with BBQ, and outdoor furniture. The allotted green space will consist of walkways, benches, and two children's play areas. Mature trees will be preserved, and new trees will added to enhance the landscaping.

The next phase of the development will be the 6-storey Building B, which will contain 16 studio, 27 one-bedroom, 26 two-bedroom, and 18 three-bedroom apartments. Building C, the last to be built, will stand at 10 storeys and will contain 38 one-bedroom, 20 two-bedroom, and 18 three-bedroom apartments. Both buildings will include indoor and outdoor amenities, including urban agriculture plots and children's playgrounds.

There will be 115 car and 301 bicycle parking spaces. The development is also well-served by public transit with several buses and a SkyTrain station within a short distance. It is also just a block south of the Vancouver General Hospital campus, multiple parks, and the Douglas Park Community Centre.
