A recent proposal by Reliance Properties and DIALOG has been submitted to City Council regarding plans to build an 8-storey mixed-use residential block in Burnaby Heights. Known for now as 1943-1967 East Hastings, the 131-unit mid-rise structure would feature 7 storeys of residential space perched atop a single storey of street-facing retail.

The DIALOG-designed block would be stark white, its facade broken up by a series of multi-volume, rectilinear blocks and upper-level setbacks. Balconies would grace what appears to be every unit, while the top floor would be outfitted with expansive rooftop terraces complete with a small urban canopy of trees.

Space for 169 cars and 300 bikes will be carved out of the building's three-storey underground garage, which will be accessed via the rear of the structure. Taking advantage thus of the natural sloping grade towards the rear, the underground parking will be easily accessible for all users.

Located just east of Boundary Road, at the western edge of Burnaby Heights, the development will place future residents within easy walking distance of the busy Boundary-East Hastings crossroads - including all of the shops, restaurants, and other local services that abound in the area. Close as well to Adanac Park and Burnaby Heights Park, residents will have plenty of green space options for a day out in the sun.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
