Just over a month since our last update, and Westbank's 400 West Georgia Street has continued to rise at a steady pace. The core of the uniquely-designed 24-storey office tower by Merrick Architecture has now risen several storeys above grade - its exterior to eventually be clad in a series of stacked glass cubes.

Centrally located at West Georgia and Homer Street in the downtown core, 400 West Georgia Street will one day be home to 375,000 sq. ft. of prime office space. Set to incorporate a sizable green element, the cubic cladding will provide numerous opportunities for living roofs and walls, which will be spread across the bulk of the structure - both inside and out.

Close to transit, numerous commercial corridors, and the rest of the city's business district, 400 West Georgia Street will be a fine addition to the core. Moreover, owing to its distinctive, sculptural quality, to say nothing of its many environmental merits, the project will very much be a product of its home city.

For now little more than a stump, however, passersby will have to content themselves with the rise of the core ahead of the arrival of the tower's architectural details.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
