Seven months since we last checked in at 1090 West Pender Street, and ample progress has now been made in terms of demolition and site clearance. Following the removal of a handful of old commercial structures at the corner of Pender and Thurlow, the new 33-storey office tower by Bentall Kennedy and Musson Cattell Mackey Partnership will breathe new life into the area.

Viewed in the time-lapse video (below), captured by urbanYVR, the demolition of the former parkade (above) can be seen from start to finish. More demolition is imminent, however, a 15-storey office block on-site yet to come down.

1090 West Pender Street will bring 562,135 sq. ft. of modern office space to the core, in addition to 6,378 sq. ft. of retail at grade. While centrally located, there will be 432 underground parking spaces, and 119 bike spaces.

Set to encompass a prime corner lot in the heart of the city, 1090 West Pender Street will be an exciting project, owing not only to its height and innovative design (including a comprehensive green roof), but as well for its amenities. Employees will have full access to a 31st-floor amenity deck, complete with an outdoor terrace with BBQs, seating, and greenery - to say nothing of the stunning cityscape views.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
