Two months since our last update, and progress at 401 West Georgia has moved ahead significantly. The 9-storey downtown office block by Oxford Properties and B+H Architects has now topped off, with its glass curtain wall cladding not far behind.

Built upon the former site of the BMO auxillary complex at West Georgia and Homer Streets, 401 West Georgia takes up the bulk of a tight urban lot adjacent to the historic Holy Rosary Cathedral. Featuring a "stacked" configuration, each of the building's three volumes are composed of a varying number of floors, ranging from top-bottom as 2, 3, and 4 apiece.

Altogether, 401 West Georgia Street's modern design appears tailor-made to attract just the type of innovative tech industries that have already begun to set up shop across Metro Vancouver. Faced in floor-to-ceiling glass, the centrally-located project will provide tenants with sweeping downtown vistas, there to also be a full range of in-house amenities.

The aforementioned 6,600 sq. ft. of amenity space will be joined at street level by an as of yet TBD amount of street-facing retail. Once complete, 401 West Georgia Street will be a fine addition to the core, the project representative of Vancouver's identity as a West Coast tech hub.
