Two months since we last checked in at Escala, and progress has been slow but steady as the project nears completion. While the 42-storey tower remains virtually complete, work has continued, albeit slowly, across the base of the tower, as it has upon the adjacent townhouse complex.

Designed by IBI Group for Ledingham McAllister, the 520-unit, tower and townhouse development is on target to deliver upwards of 800 residents to the Burnaby's Willingdon Heights. Close to the Gilmore SkyTrain station and the nearby Brentwood Town Centre, Escala will be a prime address for those looking for a healthy mix of condo living and suburban convenience.

Sleek with its signature curve, the 369-unit tower is the true showstopper here, the associated 151-unit townhouse block more of a serviceable addition than an architectural sibling. Clad in a blend of coloured spandrel and glass, both structures have been faced in a gentle, earthy palette.

Part of the ongoing intensification of the neighbourhood, Escala joins several other similar tower and town developments to have popped up in recent years.

SkyriseCities will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
