Four months since we last checked in at Joyce in Vancouver's East Side, and progress has moved ahead significantly. Following the completion of excavation work back in December, the arrival of the crane, in conjunction with the laying of the foundations and pilings has led to the rise of a booming construction site.

Located at close to the Burnaby border at 5050-80 Joyce Street, the 30-storey, 256-unit, residential development by Westbank and Henriquez Partners Architects will soon be home to upwards of 400 new residents. Adjacent to the Joyce-Collingwood SkyTrain station, as well as the Joyce Street commercial strip and several city parks, the aptly-named Joyce will place residents within close proximity to transit and numerous neighbourhood amenities.

Joyce will feature a full range of suite options, including 30 studio, 110 one-, 90 two, and 26 three-bedroom units, in addition to room underground for 139 cars and 300 bikes. There will also be 470 sq. m. of retail space at grade facing onto Joyce Street.

Building amenities will include a rooftop terrace with fire pit and lounge furniture, outdoor agriculture plots, vertical climbing wall, and a children's play area. These will be in addition to a gym, lounge, library, music room, and study, thereby making for a full-service home for all.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
