Two months since our last update, and the demolition work now well underway at The Stack has moved along significantly. Little now remains of the former multi-level parking garage that long occupied the site the prime downtown lot to soon become home to a 36-storey, mixed-use, high-rise.

The Stack (formerly 1133 Melville) is set to rise at the corner of Melville and Thurlow, within easy walking distance to the nearby shops and restaurants of W Georgia and Robson Streets. The Stack will deliver 540,000 sq. ft. of modern office space to the core, with anchor tenants Ernst & Young, and Blakes and DLA Piper, taking up 207,000 sq. ft. collectively.

Centrally located, close to transit, Coal Harbour, the Waterfront, and the Financial District, The Stack will be a hot commodity among commercial tenants looking for a state of the art office space in the heart of the city. The Stack is on target to receive LEED Platinum certification, the tower being one of just two such high-rise developments in Canada engaged within the Net Zero Carbon pilot project.

Viewed above, the finished product will live up to its name, The Stack to consist of a series of "stacked" glass boxes. This configuration will allow for the inclusion of multiple green terraces and other green initiatives, in addition to 250 bike stalls placed below grade.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
