The City of Vancouver Development Permit Board approved an application for an office building at 2102 Keith Drive at the January 21, 2019 hearing. Designed by DIALOG on behalf of Nature’s Path, this building will become the company’s new head office.

The 10-storey building will make a visual impact on the neighbourhood with its unique honeycomb-like exoskeleton. There will be over 160,000 square feet of office space, most of which will be occupied by Nature’s Path. There will 187 car and 47 bike parking spaces. The site is located right next to the VCC-Clark Skytrain station and is within walking distance of several bus routes.

The approved building design differs from an earlier application, which called for an 8-storey building with over 120,000 square feet of office space and 141 parking spaces.

This development is set to achieve LEED rating with a number of sustainable features including a high-performance building envelope and solar shading. The project will be an entirely wood structure above the floor of the second level.

Several concerns were cited, including increased traffic and height; the main concern was obstruction of the iconic East Van Cross sign. The building design ensures that sight lines from the northwest to the sign will be protected, including those from the Expo Line. The City of Vancouver is also considering relocating the sign.
