More than a year since we last reported on the project, and 3rd and Chesterfield in North Vancouver has all but reached structural completion. Located, fittingly, at the corner of 3rd and Chesterfield in Lower Lonsdale, the eponymous mid-rise by Anthem Properties and Rositch Hemphill Architects will deliver a healthy mix of residential and commercial space to the area.

A 10,000 square foot retail space at grade will dominate the base of the block, with storefronts to face onto 3rd Street. Above, the top four floors will be devoted to residential, with 56 units placed tastefully over the surrounding streetscape.

Moving around to the side of the development, it is clear that the local topography of North Vancouver has influenced the layout of the structure, the building itself following the slope that exists en route to the waterfront. The slope has allowed for lower level parking, to be accessed from the rear, to be easily incorporated into the structure.

To the rear of the structure, it is clear that a clever use of setbacks will allow for a series of outdoor terraces to become a feature of the development. Once complete, 3rd and Chesterfield will more than likely be a popular address, its central location and layout sure to make it an easy sell.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
