Since last checking in at the demolition site for The Stack back in August, the former parking garage at 1133 Melville Street has been coming down piece by piece, the structure today less than half its original size. The cement structure has been coming down slowly but surely, each floor having been peeled back before being torn down.
Located near the intersection of Melville and Thurlow, within walking distance of the shops and restaurants of nearby W Georgia and Robson, The Stack will be a popular address for tenants looking to be in the heart of the action. Close as well to Coal Harbour, the waterfront, and the Burrard SkyTrain station, The Stack will be well-situated for tenants desirous of an efficient connection to transit.
The Stack will deliver 540,000 square feet of prime downtown office space spread across 36 floors, thus making this the largest of its kind in Vancouver. Anchor tenants Ernst & Young and Blakes and DLA Piper will collectively take up 207,000 square feet, or almost half of the building, leaving the rest of the space as of yet unclaimed.
The Stack is on track to receive LEED Platinum, the tower to be just one of two such towers in Canada to part of the Net Zero Carbon pilot project. There will be six outdoor terraces, 250 bike stalls, and a great deal of other green initiatives.
