Bjarke Ingles Group's distinctive sculptural addition to the downtown skyline has been progressing nicely since our last update, the soon-to-be 49-storey Vancouver House, having nearly reached its final 157-metre height.

Developed by Westbank, what has been described as a "living sculpture," features a unique twisting design, fleshed out with a modular series of positive and negative three-dimensional spaces in the form of rectangualr window and balcony bays.

Providing an interesting visual aesthetic as viewed from any angle, the distinctive textural quality of the tower cannot be overstated.

Once complete, the tower will be comprised of 388 residential units resting above a mix of office and retail space, the project as a whole envisioned as the anchor of the newly created Beach District.

Part of the ongoing transformation of the new waterfront neighbourhood sprouting up on either side of the Granville Overpass, Vancouver House has quickly become a local staple, the project (hopefully) the face of things to come.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
