Evidence of Burnaby's breakneck urbanization and densification, the emergent skyline around the Brentwood Town Centre is now encroaching south to the light-industrial buildings along Dawson Street. Although not nearly as tall as its neighbours, Porte Communities is nearing completion on Madison & Dawson, a new six-storey residential mid-rise designed by GBL Architects.

The 92-unit wood-frame building is constructed over a concrete first floor, which renderings show overflowing with patio spaces. Residents of the one-, two- and three-bedroom units are given plenty of amenities to enjoy, including a private garden terrace featuring a barbecue, fire pit and wet bar. The project will also contain a fitness centre.

The near-finished building — which replaced a printing shop — is represented in recent photos posted to our Forum by contributor City Of Rain. They show cladding covering most of the topped-out building, which has a cantilevered roofline. Occupancy is anticipated later this year.
