Soon to become the latest residential development to grace South Vancouver, Concord Pacific's GBL Architects-designed, three-tower, W1 will soon be complete. Part of the ongoing intensification that has been unfolding along SW Marine Dr in South Vancouver, the three-structure, 27-21-7-storey residential development is on target to bring approximately 460 units to the neighbourhood.

Visible above, the two rental towers flank the mid-rise rental component, the smaller structure to contain 70 units in addition to a 37-space daycare facility. Built at the expense of a former affordable housing townhouse development dating to the 1970s, ex-residents have been offered a range of financial incentives, including discounts and priority within the new structure, to help smooth over the transition period.

Outfitted with balconies on every side and ample glazing, residents will enjoy 360-degree views and year-round outdoor space thanks to Vancouver's temperate climate. Walking distance to the SkyTrain (Canada Line), as well as to many area shops and restaurants, W1 will place residents within close proximity to a full range of local amenities and services.

Already a neighbourhood fixture, W1 has blended well into its surroundings, the bustling Marine Dr corridor today a hot spot for chain restaurants and big box stores, as well as several neighbourhood parks and walking trails for those seeking a bit of refuge from the city.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
