A multi-tower development is gearing up to begin transforming a huge parcel of Richmond on the banks of the Fraser River. The W.T. Leung Architects-designed ViewStar, developed by Yuanheng Holdings, is formally and conceptually divided into three distinct areas, each programmed according to a specific theme.

ViewStar's Northside neighbourhood offers residences in the form of condominiums and townhomes, with office space peppered in between. A 35,000-square-foot community centre will be the largest of its kind in the city, containing basketball, volleyball and badminton courts, an indoor running track, a children's lab, multi-purpose rooms, and a creativity lab.

The Southside offers up more residential options, plus an expansive 130,000-square-foot amenities package. A private elevated central park and an indoor pool comprise part of the onsite conveniences, and multiple terraced rooftop gardens accent the units. The Riverside neighbourhood puts the Fraser River's marina and waterfront park at residents' doorsteps, with some interior floor plans configured to hold four bedrooms across a full level.

Recent photo updates show heavy machinery servicing the site ahead of excavation. Completion of the 850-unit development is expected in late 2020.
