Vancouver's Main Street between 1st Avenue and Broadway is undergoing rapid transformation, with new, multi-storey residential buildings, commercial spaces, and a new park replacing parking lots and one-storey buildings. The City of Vancouver has received an application to rezone 2202-2218 Main Street to allow the construction of a mixed-use building, and held a community open house on December 11th, with City staff and the applicant team available to answer questions and collect feedback. Comments on the proposal can also be submitted by filling out the online feedback form.

The proposal was designed by Studio B Architects for PortLiving. The six-storey building will be comprised of 9,174 square feet of retail space on the P1 and ground floors, as well as 65 strata units consisting of townhomes and apartments — 19 studios, 19 one-bedroom, 17 two-bedroom, and 10 three-bedroom units. There will be 99 car parking spaces, including one car sharing space and 95 bicycle parking spaces. Improvements to the public realm will include a pedestrian alley on the south side of the building, new street trees, accent paving, and seating.

The proposed building will be located in the heart of Vancouver's Mount Pleasant neighbourhood, with easy access to public transit, shopping, restaurants, breweries, a community centre, schools and a library.
