A ten-storey residential development at Main Street and 7th Avenue in Mount Pleasant is well under construction, as crews have completed excavation and are presently assembling the development's below-grade levels. A project by the boutique Vancouver-based Chard Development, Ellsworth has sold its 89 suites as the trendy neighbourhood readies itself for another injection of discerning residents.

Reflecting the hip vibe of its setting in its form, the MCMP-designed development employs an architectural vocabulary of stacked offset boxes, with coloured spandrel panels bringing vivacity to the mix. Inside, floor plans target everyone from young professionals to new families, with studio to three-bedroom options available. Naturally, Ellsworth's exterior is largely articulated in expansive windows, so views of the skyline and mountains can be fully enjoyed.

Residents on lower floors who don't benefit from the more revealing views higher up will get a chance to revel in the glory via a 3,500-square-foot rooftop terrace. Equipped with dual barbecues and an outdoor kitchen, the sprawling amenity space will become the building's main social and entertainment joint. Refined finishes throughout the interior, including the lobby with its mahogany wood and polished white millwork, lend a sophisticated countenance to the building. There's also a dog wash and grooming area, custom artwork in common areas, a children's play space, and several garden plots for budding botanists.

A recent visit to the construction site by Forum contributor Roundabout produced some juicy photos of the progress, showing the tower crane sticking out of the excavation as the concrete wall and floor slabs of the secured parking garage take shape. Expect this development to be delivered in 2018, but until then, we'll continue to track its movement.
