The City has received a proposal by TransLink to redevelop the plaza space in front of Burrard Station as part of a broader Burrard Station upgrade project. The project is currently in the design phase. The City’s key interest is to review the plaza space and
adjacent public realm.
While TransLink is still developing details on the project, the plaza-space upgrades will include:
• Moving the ground-level stairs and escalators closer to Dunsmuir Street;
• Replacing grass outside station with a hard surface;
• Creating a more seamless connection between the Burrard sidewalk and plaza including minimizing or eliminating stairs; and
• Replacing all escalators and the elevator, and adding new ones to increase capacity.
