A new project coming to Elmbridge Way a short walk from the Richmond Oval employs an architectural dialogue inspired by the geological history of the region. Cascade City, designed by Arno Matis Architecture and Rafii Architects for Landa Global Properties, utilizes contemporary geometries, materials and building systems as a comprehensive "landscape intervention."

The pair of 15-storey towers are connected to the ground via a sinuous parking podium with ground floor retail and a rooftop park. The angled expression of the 273-unit complex is meant to evoke the flow of water in the Richmond delta. The project's massing is divided into sections of vertical and horizontal layers transected by a contrasting ribbon, a parallel to sedimentary layers.

The development, located between the Olympic Oval and Canada Line's Brighouse Station, maintains a "bent slab-block" shape to optimize light and view exposures. The two buildings both feature cascading southern elevations that create roof terraces oriented to maximize natural light.
