The mixed-use Marine Gateway project by PCI Developments has landed a Global Award of Excellence from the Urban Land Institute, marking its seventh award from local, national and international organizations in the last two years.

"We are honoured to receive this international recognition from the ULI for Marine Gateway, a project that we are very proud of," said Andrew Grant, president of PCI Developments. "The site previously had no housing and only 60 jobs. Now, Marine Gateway is a vibrant, transit-oriented, complete urban community home to approximately 750 residents and 2,000 jobs in conjunction with high quality restaurants, retailers and movie theatre serving the local community."

The Perkins + Will-designed complex is LEED Gold certified and directly integrated with the Marine Drive Canada Line Station. The recently completed development contains 415 condominiums, 46 apartments, 230,000 square feet of retail and 260,000 square feet of office space.

Multidisciplinary members of the Urban Land Institute around the world constituted the international jury. The ULI Awards for Excellence was established in 1979 and recognizes the "full development process of a project," including design, environmental protection, and response to societal needs. Marine Gateway, along with the other projects selected by the organization, "reflect the highest standards of design, construction, economics, planning, and management," said ULI Global Chief Executive Officer Patrick L. Phillips.

Marine Gateway was one of 13 global developments selected by the Urban Land Institute for its 2017-2018 Global Award of Excellence. Toronto's West Don Lands, the Chicago Riverwalk, and Singapore's Oasia Hotel Downtown were among the other dozen projects bestowed awards by the ULI.
