Currently nearing completion in central Burnaby, Modello by Boffo Developments, a 37-storey high-end condo tower designed by Chris Dikeakos Architects, has already transformed the local skyline. Topped off and almost completely clad, Modello is set to open later this year. The sold-out 170-unit project, within steps of the SkyTrain and Metropolis shopping centre, should be a hit for those seeking a blend of urban and suburban living, with easy access to downtown.

Sprouting from a four-storey podium, which will soon become home to a mix of retail and dining options including a proposed wine bar and outdoor patio, with frontage onto Beresford Street and Willingdon Avenue, Modello has positioned itself as a high-end condo. The tower's 170 units range in size from 623 to 1,706 square feet.

Clad in a mixture of glass window wall and recessed windows, the tower and podium levels will each take on a unique look. The two styles work in unison in an effort to introduce the highrise tower into its predominantly low-rise immediate surroundings, as the site is located along a streetscape dominated by three-storey apartment blocks dating to the 1960s. The project is not alone however, as Modello is but one of many tall buildings to have risen in suburban Burnaby over the last several years. The Vancouver suburb is not immune to the rapid rate of development that has taken hold within Metro Vancouver.

Once complete, the sold-out project will add to the quickly evolving urban landscape of central Burnaby. The new development is a sign of the times as more and more people continue to seek a foothold in the Vancouver real estate market.

SkyriseVancouver will be sure to return to this project as progress continues. For more information, check out the associated Database file and Forum thread, and as always, feel free to join the conversation in the comments section below.
