Vancouver's Strathcona neighbourhood is one of the most economically and demographically diverse in the city. With roots dating back to 1865, the primarily residential district is also among the oldest. Located just south of the Downtown Eastside, Strathcona's gradual gentrification is represented by construction hoarding and tower cranes poking above newly excavated holes in the cityscape. Along East Hastings Street, the Wall Group of Companies is currently building a three-tower mixed-use development that promises to strengthen the varied cityscape of this stretch of Vancouver.

The buildings — individually dubbed the Raymur, Heatley, and Ballantyne at Strathcona Village — offer residents a variety of unit sizes that feature stainless steel appliances, laminate wood flooring and spacious outdoor decks. Residents have a choice between two design schemes, one utilizing light wood tones and neutral finishing, and the other employing sleek and glossy whites with charcoal accents.

The project's outdoor spaces are urban oases fit for reading, relaxing, and entertaining. These areas will be equipped with large trees to ensure an adequate balance of sunlight and shade. There will also be spaces dedicated to urban agriculture, while more traditional amenity offerings include a fitness centre and meeting rooms.

In addition to the extensive residential and amenity modules, the GBL Architects-designed complex offers 60,000 square feet of LEED Silver office space. The WorkSpaces at Strathcona Village will span two levels and — with zoning permissions allowing industrial flex, manufacturing, office, and retail uses — can accommodate a hodgepodge of tenants from cafes to artists’ studios. Ceiling heights for these units range from 19 to 22 feet while the largest space will contain a total of 6,781 square feet of space. As crews assemble the development's floor plates above grade, it is anticipated that these retail segments will be open by summer 2017.
